چکیده
Rogan, Needham, and McDonald (1955) performed lung-function tests on patients suffering from Bechterew's disease; their studies did not, however, include measurements during exercise. Julian, Travis, and Bayles (1959) also performed lung-function tests at rest only, but they advocated investigations during strain. Renzetti, Nicholas, Dutton, and Jivoff (1960) mention the occurrence of hyperventilation of patients with Bechterew's disease during exercise, but they did not describe how the exercise was performed. The functional condition of an organ or organic system is best evaluated when this organ or system is submitted to a certain degree of strain. Spiro-ergometry has therefore been carried out in this clinic since 1954 in a group of patients suffering from Bechterew's disease, and the following questions were considered:

متن کاملDifficult airway in advanced Bechterew's disease: case report.
Advanced Bechterew's disease presents with increasing ossification of spinal column, from lower lumbar segments upwards, first causing impossibility to place spinal block in lumbar region, and later, due to stiffness of cervical spine, difficult intubation because of inability to extend and/or flex the neck during direct laryngoscopy and intubation. Mask ventilation, on the other hand, usually ...

Background: Some skin diseases cause severe stress in patients and relieving these stresses greatly helps to treat the underlying disease and to prevent the recrudescence of it. Objectives: To determine the frequency of depression in patients suffering from vitiligo. Patients and Methods: 120 patients with a clinical diagnosis of vitiligo referred to dermatologic clinics in Kerman from 13...
متن کاملUsing of spectral analysis of heart rate variability for increasing reliability of bicycle ergometry results
The aim was to study the suitability of the heart rate variability (HRV) spectral parameters for evaluations of bicycle ergometry results in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients. Methods. Our study included 243 male CHD patients aged 49±8 years. The coronary atherosclerosis was assessed by coronary angiography. The results of bicycle ergometry, Doppler echocardiography and HRV spectral analysi...
متن کاملExercise increases serum endostatin levels in female and male patients with diabetes and controls
BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is often associated with atherosclerotic changes in coronary vessels, most notably plaques. The angiostatic parameter endostatin is able to inhibit angiogenesis in tissue as well as in plaques and therefore plays an important role in physiological and pathological neovascularisation. The aim of the present study was to investigate sex-specific differen...
